We got wind that Tom Jackson's new group is performing a couple of hits at the Cebu Music Fest starting this weekend so we asked him to give us a glimpse of his new group.
The band is temporarily called, "Tom Jackson and friends" and the style of music that they are playing is contemporary jazz.
The band members are as follows: John Cinco on bass, Ruel Lusica on keyboards, Dardo Dignos on guitar and just recently, Ron Liston joined them on sax.
It's a new band and, for now, they play instrumentals. However, soon, they will be adding vocals supplied by Tom's wife, Sheena Jackson.
Currently, they are covering tunes from George Duke, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Lee Ritenour, Larry Carton and David Benoit. Eventually, they'll be incorporating original songs to the mix.
Initially, Tom had a simple jam session with a couple of the guys, not expecting it to go much further. After enjoying the interaction, they collectively decided to pursue the idea of regular rehearsals with the intension of creating an all new contemporary jazz group for the listeners of Cebu.
They now look forward to their debut gig at the 2012 Cebu Music Festival and for many more beyond. They hope for your support and to see you all there.
They are scheduled to perform this Friday, August 3, at The Terraces Ayala Center Cebu and on August 11th, at the North Wing Atrium of SM City Cebu.
Tom Jackson is a professional drummer and the author of the books: "Drumming from Top to Bottom" published by Hal Leonard Publishing Corporation P/L (USA); and, "Drumming from Top to Bottom Intermediate" in Australia, selling in all of the major music and print music retail outlets Australia wide and New Zealand, distributed through Hal Leonard Australia, and widely accepted as one of the most sort after industry standards for teaching and learning the drums.
The book, "Drumming from Top to Bottom Intermediate," retitled as "The Complete Drummer's Guide" was released outside of Australia, includes an additional 11 pages of new material, as well as 4 additional CD tracks.
Due to popular demand, "The Complete Drummer's Guide" is now available to anyone worldwide as an all-new downloadable PDF version for only $14.99 USD (CD included).
